Summer projects

During the summer break, finally I get to play and learn how to use my babylock evolve serger. This 8 thread serger does all the serge stitches, plus wave stitch and cover stitch. The Automatic Tension Deliver and AirJet threading system just make serge so much easier and fun.

About a month ago, I was lucky to attend Marijane's 1st "Swimsuit Class" with my classmates. Marijane has 10yrs of industry experience, creating profession swimware for competition swim club, Santa Clara auamaids synchronized team, body buliders, and Olympians across the U.S. There was so much information packed in 3 days' class. Neverless, was fun!

after the class, I've made a couple yoga pants (still need to readjust the fit) with the serger. Since then, I've been taking a break from such "fitting" and doing small projects produce instant gratification like these:

Reward

2 week ago, Dawson received an awards from ACM at San Diego! I'm so proud of him!

Lucky for me, the next day we visited
"BODY WORLDS & The Brain—Our Three Pound Gem" exhibitions at San Diego Natural History Museum and the ZOO. I was very excited about the exhibitions because I missed the San Jose exhibition last year.

Since the invention of Plastination (by Gunther von Hagens), the public anatomical exhibition of real human bodies has been display worldwide for over a decade. The way that they show the human body is constructed is fascinating. it was in an art form but also a truly educational tour.

these two street performers caught my attention as we made our way to the Zoo at Balboa Park.

His music was very beautiful with a dash melancholy. after downloading this video, we wish we'd stayed longer.

earthy, can't help not to dance with it.

Have to admit I was looking forward for my 1st visit of the SD Zoo. Though as much as I love to see these gorgeous animals in real life, it rather depressing see them in captivity.

Jaguar are the largest wild cats in the Americans.

can't stay up... too hot!

they was walking in circle... going insane.

Additions

What a good day! My 1st visit to fabrics and more monthly event, where they gather beautiful discontinued fabric samples and distribute to artisans and craftspeople at basically no cost, (they ask for donation since they now have to rent the space for the event), so it won't go to the landfill!

People exchanged ideas while digging through treasure piles. My gf and I've so much fun and I got 2 bags full of beautiful fabric, wall paper, tile and carpet. We came home and compared what we got, folded and organized. Now I just have to make some room for my new stash and more creations!

finally the electrician came to convert the outlet to 220, so we can power up the new toys. He waited all week to test drive the lathe. The 3,000lb. mill, still needs some work to get it started. Slowly, but surly the garage will turn into a machine shop! That is pretty neat!

"you better love her or she will kill you?!"

Is he trying to tell me something? He left me these notes when he went away for a day trip.

He is twice of my size, but in his doodling, I'm always bigger. I particularly like the one on the left. they are just silly cute funny notes~

A Weekend of Sew & Sweet~

On the memorial weekend, we were infatuated with our own projects. In between breaks, we took a stroll at the downtown for some pizza/ coffee and had some B.B.Q from Back A yard (best BBQ near us) before we went back home and immerse in our different obsessions.

On Monday I baked some oatmeal raisin cookie and Tuesday I baked Nutty Oatmeal cookies for the potluck at school. They were all gone when I went to collect my container, yeah!! The Jacket Show and potluck was so good! I could do that everyday~

It was a perfect weekend where we share our favorite food (I ate most of it), hanging out, sewing and baking... so much goodness rolled into one holiday~

Good Day~

The end of semester fashion show was at school today, we started the afternoon at Oakland to inspect a big toy my bf was interested in. The owner has a room full of serious heavy machine. it was quite a collection.

After examining his toy, we started the button hunting for my jacket and vest at Stone mountain and daughter. Their button selection was generous and easy to access. Not to mention the fabric selections is just amazing, I've to restrain myself wondering off from the button section(running out of time.) Least with his help, I stayed focus and found my perfect button to go with my projects and in time to get some yummy.

Whenever I'm around Berkeley, I always make a trip to Vik's, one of my favorite Indian restaurant on my "have to try list." They are tasty, fast, inexpensive with consistent quality! Can't beat it!

After 7 dishes, we carried our full tummy to Canada's annual fashion show. What a way to end a day. We enjoyed the show and it was fun to see my classmates and their garments on stage! Go girls~
